Inpatient and observation encounters

The capabilities of this Patient Type are similar to what you are used to for your Inpatient encounters, with a few minor changes.

Profile types

To create an Observation-specific profile, select the profile type called “Internal Encounters – Inpatient and Observation” from the Profile Type dropdown.

Clinical Case summary

This appears the same as inpatient encounters with a few minor additions.

Demographics tab

The Demographics section of the outpatient Clinical Case summary includes different views based on the patient type. Now you can see:

Detail services

The Detail Services tab has been reformatted for quicker information look-up and ease of access to information. This tab also has new features, including the ability to roll up data to the CDM level.

Quality and safety, patient satisfaction

Only measures that are applicable for observation encounters will display.
